So lets start with a nice IPA

Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA.

www.dogfish.com/

Lets find out what it s supposed to be like. I have heard a lot about this brewery and it is quite popular over here at the moment.

Its called a  60 Minute IPA because is continuously hopped  over a 60-minute boil and  brewed with a lots of Northwest hops and is supposed to be quite citrous. 6% ABV.

Hops contain two kinds of aromatic material: bitter resins and essential oils. Bitter resins require vigorous boiling and relatively longer time for dissolution. During this, most of the essential oils leave the Kettle with the steam. Since most of the essential oils of hops are lost in the boiling process, a beer with a good hop aroma requires additional hops after boiling. Finishing hops are usually added within the last minutes of boiling, or as the wort is struck from the Kettle. But with this dogfish IPA hops are added 60 times during the 60 minute boil.

The hops are not too noticeable on the nose but what does come through in the tasting is those fruits. Orange springs to mind immediately. Quite pale in colour not that I know how pale a pale ale should be yet but it was paler than I thought it would be.

ABV 6.0%

look: 4.0  light and golden with a nice small white head but good retention
Aroma: 4.0 Mildly hoppy

Taste: 4.0 Clean taste, lightly carbonated slight malty taste

Body:4.0 Goes down nice.

I'd give this a 4 star

  1. Not a fan of IPA's at all but if you are might I suggest you try Yakima Glory by Victory. http://victorybeer.com/beers/yakima-glory/

It's the hoppiest beer I have ever tried, it's almost like chewing them raw. I don't think its marketed as an IPA either!
